9^th European Research Conference «Homelessness in Times of Crisis» (Warsaw, 19 September 2014).

The annual European Homelessness Research Conference has become globally important as the leading forum for discussion of homelessness research and policy across the European Union.

The conference will be organised by FEANTSA’s European Observatory on Homelessness and hosted by the University of Warsaw.

The Theme Evidence on the impacts of the economic and financial crisis on the extent and nature of homelessness and housing exclusion across Europe reveals uneven patterns. In some countries, there are signs that the economic and financial crisis is having a negative impact. In others, however, homelessness also remains a problem but the implementation of integrated homelessness strategies seems to have managed to limit the impacts of the crisis.

The conference aims at stimulating the dissemination of research outcomes and methodological approaches focusing on the social impacts of the economic and financial crisis – as well as of the policy responses to them adopted across Europe – regarding homelessness and housing exclusion. Although a particular focus of the conference is on understanding homelessness and housing exclusion in times of crisis, the conference will also include open sessions for which we welcome papers on the broad theme of «homelessness and housing exclusion» from across Europe.

Early-stage researchers are especially welcome to present on-going research on homelessness and housing exclusion at a special session within the Conference.

Please submit an abstract (max. 500 words) by April 7, 2014. Successful applicants will be notified by early May 2014. Final PowerPoint presentations will be due by the end of July 2014.
